It’s a case that New Westminster police have worked on for 14 years, the hit and run death of 3 year-old Megan Gunderson outside of her home in New Westminster.

A tipster recently brought forward some crucial information, but police are looking for more.

Paul Molund’s wife Grace Chan was killed as she walked to Safeway get some chicken for her cat on July 25th, 2007 at Broadway and Maple in Vancouver. Grace had a PhD in Pharmaceutical Science. She published 15 scientific papers on her research into Huntington’s disease and other conditions that afflict thousands of Canadians. She was an accomplished artist, she captivated children when she met them, she never missed a day of church or failed to donate to charity. She was 49 when she was killed.

The man who killed her is named John Threfall. Mr. Threfall raced his car south down Maple Street and across 5 lanes of traffic on Broadway as the light was changing. He was in a rush to get to the liquor store.

Before killing Grace, Threfall had racked up 46 driving infractions including two for drunk driving and several more for driving while prohibited. After killing Grace, he added another speeding ticket to his record. He now faces 4 years in jail and a lifetime driving ban.
